I had five days of rest at Fat Cat Backpacker… I know I’m really lazy, but it was great to see my friends and chill out for some days. It was difficult to leave this morning. I succeeded to take the train to Britomart and hit the road after meeting my friend Martyn working at Yoobee.
The path was pleasant, going through beautiful parks and Auckland suburbs that I’ve never seen. On my way, I met a guy walking in the other way, I asked him if he was doing the Te Araroa. He answered me he couldn’t understand what I was saying with a french accent. Pierre is french, he is not walking along Te Araroa, he just arrived in New Zealand and decided to travel around the country walking and sleeping in his tent, no other kind of accommodation or hitch hiking allowed. This guy is crazier than me, I like that. We stayed on the path talking about ours journeys and we kept going on our way.
I found a spot to camp it’s a bird observatory, It’s not a really good protection against wind and rain but I will stay here for the night without pitching my tent. Will see… I hope the weather will be mild.
