Tonight I’m going to have an interview with a french radio at 2 am so I decided to keep a good connection and stay not so far from a town. I just walked to Te Kuiti 13 kilometres which is nothing but was the longest way ever. The path went through farmland and I couldn’t use my gps or my map because they went wrong most of the time. Following the Te Araroa notes and trying to find the orange markers were my only help on the path. I lost the path several times and even if it was clear land, it wasn’t easy to find my way when there is no mark of a route on the ground and you’re just walking on grass all the time. Five hours after I left Waitomo, I finally ended in Te Kuiti where I found a place to stay in a campground. I recycled my time, updating my blog and resupplied before the long next walk through Pureroa forest.
