John and Phil were fixing the windows when I left. Every year they spend one week in this hut and try to maintain it. On my way to Hurunui Hut I stayed to have a lunch at Hope Kiwi Lodge. I understand now why they call it Lodge, this hut is a real palace. i kept going, passing by Lake Marion and through a beech forest above the Lake Sumner. Then I crossed the valley and crossed the Hurunui River by a swing bridge.I took the wrong way heading straight after the swing bridge on the right and made myself a way through Manuka trees and rocks to finally reach the path ending at Hurunui Hut. No one was there, I had the hut for myself. It was the biggest full moon I’ve never seen in my life.
