The alarm rang at 6:30 like every morning but this time I woke up. We took our breakfast front of this panorama looking at the summit covered of snow. We left and climbed over a ridge reaching the first ray of sun. A first hard climb, we had a rest on this ridge and descended to the valley. Tussocks and ground were frosty, we got to the Arrow River and decided to walk in its bed. After dozen of river crossings we arrived with wet feet in Macetown a historic gold mining town now abandoned. The landscape as usual is beautiful and autumn colours are getting more vibrant more we got to the South. We had lunch and tried to dry our shoes and socks, then headed back on the trail. We walked following the river looking for the next part of the track climbing over a ridge to get to Arrowtown but we realised to late that we went to far on the 4WD track. So we made the decision to keep going on this track, getting our feet wet in the river. The Arrow Gorge was beautiful and instead following the track going above the gorge we followed the river bed, being surrounding by cliffs. We reached finally Arrowtown and had a burger and then found a room in a backpackers on our way we met Adam and Maddie getting ready for the next part of the trail. Bobby is going to stay here and hitch back to Wanaka. I will keep going by myself for the last part. Keep it safe Bobby and take care of you!
