The last night in the forest was great, a beautiful rest and the tent this morning was still dry which was so helpful to pack my bag. But I felt really tired even with a big rest. After packing my bag, I left to Waihaha Hut my first stop just five kilometres away. It took me three hours to do those five kilometres, I arrived there, there was a school camp, I talked with the youth leader who was really helpful for the next part of my trip. When they left I prepared myself a coffee and eat to recover some energy and left to the Hauhungaroa Hut. Pureroa forest is gorgeous, you can tell this forest is so old, all of the trees are mossy and have really weird shape, the forest seems alive, moving, growing while you walking.
The hut is here finally, it’s difficult to have a real notion of kilometres and time in the forest because the path is going up and down through tough track.
I light myself a fire and enjoyed it, it’s the first that I lighted during the Te Araroa.
